HBR News

This is an exciting time for the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® with Suzanne Young’s recent selection as our new chief executive officer. I look forward to working closely with her and her staff to continue to improve our great organization for the benefit of all of you. To Rochelle Lee Gregson, once again, thank you for your extraordinary service to us for the past decade. We will certainly miss you.

When I addressed you all at the Winter General Membership Meeting in December, I urged you all to pay close attention to the preamble of our Code of Ethics, the guiding principles that inspire us as REALTORS®. I asked you to consider how you can go beyond being a REALTOR® as an occupation, and become a REALTOR® who makes a difference in the community.

At the risk of reiterating myself, I hope that those of you who were at the Winter General Membership Meeting will ponder once again the importance of the real estate industry in Hawaii, and how it shapes lives and builds communities. And for those who weren’t there, please think about that as well, along with your responsibility to this industry, and the island as a whole.

For we, as REALTORS®, play a key role in the distribution of land, which is such a finite resource here. The importance of the real estate industry in Hawaii cannot be overstated, and we are on the vanguard of the developments that are shaping the distribution of this resource. As we move forward, always remember to keep our Code of Ethics in mind, and strive to be mindful of how your work influences our society. It’s an honor and privilege to be a REALTOR®. Let’s make our mark in the most beneficial way possible.
