Renew Real Estate Licenses Every Even-numbered Year

Licensees intending to renew their license on an active status by the renewal deadline of November 30 (even-numbered years) must complete 20 hours of approved continuing education courses during the biennium. The required continuing education hours include six hours for the commission designated core courses (Core A and Core B) plus 14 hours of elective credit hours.

QUICK LINKS:

Reminder: As of 12/19/16 the Real Estate Commission allows licensees to repeat the same CE course every other biennium. View your CE history at the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) website MyPVL. Licensees are welcome to repeat a course for informational purposes during the two biennium period, but may not request duplicate CE credits. *Please contact HBR’s Education Department at [email protected] or contact Sherida Warren, HBR’s Education Administrator at (808) 792-4939 whenever you are electing to repeat a course with us.

*Disclaimer: Honolulu Board of REALTORS® (HBR) has a record ONLY of the classes you have taken with HBR. For your complete record of CE credit classes, you must contact the Real Estate Commission (REC). Visit MyPVL or call REC at (808) 586-2643 for login assistance.

CE TIPS - Did You Know?

MyPVL

Your MyPVL account is an important part of licensure. Licensees should visit the MyPVL portal to:

  • access CE history
  • print pocket cards
  • check license status
  • update personal information
  • renew your license every even-numbered year

☑️ You're encouraged to use the same MyPVL account from pre-license to licensure to avoid duplicate accounts, emails, and password credentials.

☑️ Sign up for your MyPVL account with your personal email, not an email affiliated with an employer. This will avoid being locked out of your MyPVL account should you change employers and lose access to that email.

Core courses and CE electives

During a biennia, it's recommended licensees complete Core A during the first (odd) year and Core B in the second (even) year when it becomes available in the second half of the year.

Licensees should view the available dates that Core A is being offered by HBR and other Commission-approved Hawai'i CE providers and register accordingly.

Remember, both Core A and Core B courses must be completed as part of the CE requirement. If only one core course is completed, a licensee will not receive any core course credit.

It's never too early to start taking your CE elective courses, either! A total of 14 elective CE hours are required for license renewal in addition to the 6 CE hours from Core A and B.

Can you take a course again?

Pursuant to Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) §16-99-95, a licensee shall not take a continuing education course for which they have received credit within two (2) consecutive biennia.

It’s recommended that you log into your MyPVL account to confirm your CE History >> How to view your CE history
