The Honolulu Planning Commission closed public testimony on the Short-Term rental proposed bill at the end of Wednesday’s (9/8) public hearing. The planning commission will not act on the matter until a September 29th meeting.
Thank you to all our members who completed the survey on the proposed short-term rental proposed amended ordinance; your feedback was invaluable. HBR, with our City Affairs Committee, submitted testimony to the planning commission highlighting the major concerns, including:
Department of Planning and Permitting has proposed a draft bill with amendments to the Short-Term Rental Ordinance, and the Planning Commission will review the draft bill on September 1st, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. The Planning Commission review is the first step in this process; after the commission’s review and recommendations, DPP will provide the proposed draft bill to the City Council to be formally introduced. Once formally introduced, the bill will then have three full Council hearings and two Council Committee hearings at a minimum — all of which will allow for public input.
Honolulu City Council has passed resolution 21-62 setting the Real Property Tax rates for FY 2021-2022.
