HBR supported resolution 20-311 that the Honolulu City Council passed, which supported allowing the second installment of real property tax payments for the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 due on February 22, 2021, to be paid in four (4) monthly installments.
The billing for FY 2020-2021 will include both the normal billing statement and four (4) coupons that the taxpayer can use to pay their taxes in monthly installments.
Taxpayers may either pay their property tax bill in full by February 22, 2021, or pay in four (4) equal monthly installments on February 22, March 22, April 20, and May 21.
The Real Property Tax not paid by the due date of February 22, 2021, is considered delinquent. However, suppose you choose to make four (4) payments utilizing the coupons, and the outstanding real property taxes due are paid in full no later than May 21, 2021. In that case, the City will waive penalty and interest charges that have accrued for this installment only.
Any unpaid balance after May 21, 2021, will be delinquent and accrue penalty and interest charges.
