Authority from NAR
The Professional Standards Committees shall uphold the Code of Ethics and the procedures of due process as set out by the National Association of REALTORS®. The enforcement of the NAR Code of Ethics is a primary duty of each local board or association. In addition to enforcing the Code, the professional standards process includes dispute resolution services, which may be employed by REALTOR® members and members of the public.
Grievance Committee
Evaluates ethics complaints and arbitration requests to determine whether such complaints/requests warrant further consideration by a Hearing Panel of the Professional Standards & Arbitration Committee, and reviews and updates for recommendation to the Board of Directors the Rules of Procedure and Guidelines of the Grievance Committee to conform to NAR policies and the Code of Ethics.
Professional Standards and Arbitration Committee (PSAC)
Serves on hearing panels to resolve complaints of alleged ethical misconduct; serves on arbitration panels to hear complaints regarding monetary disputes; and reviews and updates for recommendation to the Board of Directors the Rules of Procedure and Guidelines of the PSAC to conform to NAR policies and the Code of Ethics.
Mediation Committee
Supplies the volunteers to act as mediators and ombudsman, and reviews and updates for recommendation to the Board of Directors the Rules of Procedure and Guidelines of the Mediation Committee to conform to NAR policies and the Code of Ethics.
