PREVIOUS CLEAN-UP:

HONOLULU (April 29, 2019) – Members of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®, along with family, friends, and staff, hit the streets around their headquarters in Kaimuki on Saturday, April 27, as part of the City and County of Honolulu’s Adopt-A-Block program, which encourages residents and local business to make a commitment to improving the quality of Oahu’s communities.

“As REALTORS®, we have a desire and responsibility to be good neighbors and take care of the communities where we live, work and play,” said Jenny L. Brady, 2019 President of the Honolulu Board of REALTORS®. “It’s important to us to promote a clean city and improve the quality and condition of our community and the ‘āina.”

Fifty volunteers worked alongside each other to beautify blocks near the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® 12th Avenue headquarters, including cleaning up streets and collecting trash. Volunteers also marked storm drains with “No dumping” stencils and placards as a reminder to keep trash and debris out of the storm drain system, reduce residential spills, and encourage overall neighborhood stewardship. Adopt-A-Block volunteers from the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® included 2019 President Jenny L. Brady, Immediate Past President Darryl Macha, President-Elect Tricia Nekota, Community Service Committee Chair Linda Okita, REALTORS®, and loan officers.

Photo albums are posted on HBR's Facebook page.

Service day clean-ups are held twice a year: in April to celebrate Earth Month and in October for Make-A-Difference month.
