In an effort to emphasize member education over fines, the HiCentral MLS Board of Directors has approved the following changes to the MLS fine structure for status change and prohibited information violations:
Council Member Ann Kobayashi co-authored Bill 77 to ensure homeowners who leave Oahu for sabbaticals or temporary work assignments can still retain their real property tax exemption; the bill is currently being heard in the City Council Budget Committee.
The city and the Michaels Development Company have completed negotiations on the terms and conditions of a development agreement and form of lease for the affordable senior rental project and community center, Halewai‘olu Senior Residences, on River Street in Chinatown. The agreement now goes to the city council for review and approval.
According to Bill 72, introduced by Councilmember Kimberly Pine, when a parcel of land that has been classified as commercial is improved with a single-family dwelling and has been granted a home exemption for the tax year, that portion of the parcel that is used for residential purposes is classified as residential.
