City Council Will Hear Report from Fire Safety Group

Following the Marco Polo Condominium fire, City Council adopted Resolution 17-341 to establish a permitted interaction group composed of Councilmembers Ann Kobayashi, Carol Fukunaga, and Trevor Ozawa as they have the highest number of high-rise residential condominiums in their district.

City Attempts to Address Monster Homes

The Honolulu City Council will be considering legislation that places a moratorium on the construction of “monster homes” and allow the Department of Planning and Permitting sufficient time to draft legislation that would prevent these homes from springing up in our neighborhoods.

City Council Moves TVR/BB Resolutions

The Honolulu City Council made another attempt to restart the discussion around transient vacation rentals (TVRs) and bed-and-breakfast (BBs) operations. The Committee on Zoning and Housing has met to hear testimony–much in opposition–on four resolutions: 17-52 introduced by Ron Menor; 17-163 and 17-164 introduced by Ernie Martin; and 17-301 introduced by Ikaika Anderson.
