Although Hawaii has taken an economic hit due to the pandemic, we still have a strong real estate market with demand both from locals and non-residents. With rates at historically low levels, many borrowers who were previously unable to afford the home or location they desired may now be able to make homeownership a reality. ASB may be able to help first-time homebuyers secure their first home through various low down payment options. ASB can also help borrowers looking to trade up, move into a house, change neighborhoods, or move into one of those newer condos in Kaka’ako. As a bank, ASB offers portfolio financing for jumbo loans up to $2 million and can do a first mortgage with a simultaneous home equity line of credit (HELOC). Additionally, ASB has VA specialists who can assist military families or retirees with homeownership using their VA benefit. Remember that borrowers will have to show stable income whether they are purchasing or refinancing their home. Get started here or talk to an ASB loan officer.
